Our Story
When we adopted our dog Mika, she regularly had digestion issues. We eventually figured out that she was sensitive to high fat diets. It took a couple months of vet visits, fecal testing, home made chicken and rice and a lot of money before we figured that out. Chicken and rice does not make for proper nutrition; it just helped her through the indigestion.

Peanut joined our pack as a puppy and needed a completely different recipe for his food. A lot of science and education was necessary to get Mika and Peanut the nutrition they needed and ultimately became the basis for Mika's Meals the business.

Why we do it?!

The current state of the Pet Feed Industry is not as healthy and safe for our pets as we would like to believe. More than 50% of the industry profits belong to 6 US companies (source) and has repeatedly let down the public by providing foods made with adulterated ingredients including, but not limited to, plastic fiber filler, chemicals, wood pulp, and dead animals (poisoned, diseased, rotting, road kill, euthanized).

Our pets are regularly getting sick, have degenerative diseases and lack proper nutrition nation wide. Dogs now experience higher rates of thyroid disease, cancer, type-2 diabetes, obesity (more than 56%), osteoporosis and other ailments directly associated with nutrition, food sources and the caloric distributions among fat, carbohydrates, protein, fiber and moisture in their food.

The Clean Label Project for pet food found some very disturbing things about the pet food we regularly feed our animals. Cadmium, pesticides, arsenic, lead, BPA, mercury, chromium, nickel and acrylamide have been found in foods at alarming levels leading to neurological problems, high blood pressure, kidney disease, liver disease, cancer, cardiac disease, skeletal symptoms, and intestinal problems.

Ultimately it is our pets that suffer and Mika's Meals is here to do something about it. At Mika's Meals we only use human grade ingredients in our food and ensure that we provide a well balanced and nutritious meal for your pup to promote a long healthy life.

Mika continues to be a thriving and healthy dog years after starting the home diet; Peanut is proud and healthy dog with tons of energy for chasing a ball! They both thought it was time we share their favorite foods with the world!
